A Story At Your Fingertips

"Une force tranquille" was a research-creation project that explored the format of Instagram "stories" with the goal of developing a hypermedia storytelling educational project for senior high school students.

Stories can be hypermedia storytelling tools in the sense that they merge multiple media and links to other content, and involve the user in the unfolding of the story. The visual practices of stories also encourage the interweaving of multiple media by layering text and sound over images, enriching the message of the shared content. Furthermore, hypermedia stories can enable the development of global, multimodal, digital, technological, and visual literacy skills (Lacelle, Boutin, & Lebrun, 2017; Robin, 2008). Given that a large majority of adolescents already communicate through this media format, they will feel comfortable taking more risks and pushing the limits of this format toward artistic creation.
